Whether it’s because you didn’t grab yourself a pair of Summerfest tickets while they were still within your budget or you simply feel too “alt” for the expanding Houston music festival (silly notion, I know), you should try and make it to Chaos In Tejas this weekend in Austin.
The 4-day festival is less condensed, spanning several venues across Austin. Though Chaos In Tejas prides itself as a showcase for crusty metal and punk, the festival’s lineup has broadened up, so you’re sure to catch some good bands (plus crusty punk and metal is always fun, right?). Even though 4 day passes are sold out, you can still pick and choose from the schedule who you wanna see, find the venue and pay anywhere from $5-$20, making it super easy on your wallet.
You can catch some Summerfest bands there, including Best Coast, Chelsea Wolfe, and COOG Radio Compilation contributor Fat Tony. If COOG Radio were going, we’d be on the look-out for UK Oi pioneers Cockney Rejects, Japanther, Mark Sultan (who you can also find at the Continental Club Saturday night), and New Zealand legends The Clean (seriously, do yourself a favor and go see these guys).
