You know me,
oh you think you do you just don’t seem to see
I’ve been waiting all this time to be,
something I can’t define
So let’s cause a scene,
clap our hands and stomp our feet or something,
yeah something
I’ve just got to get myself over me

Summer 2007 — before Nate Ruess and Sam Means went on hiatus, and Nate decided to have some fun.

Recently I’ve been watching YouTube videos of old Format shows in the AM to entertain this budding insomnia (I’m sure it’s just insomnia since we last spoke about this), and for this week’s Throwback Thursday, I’m posting up some footage of them performing “First Single” with umm hello, Jim Adkins of JIMMY EAT WORLD. I don’t know. I’ve liked this song since high school, and I’m a sucker for the kick drum and synchronized clapping and cameo performances. I could continue on with a list of cliches about this song and how it speaks to me and impacts my outlook on life and all that jazz, but you get the gist. Does it win Throwback of the Year? Not quite. Does it make me want to clap my hands and stomp my feet? F*** yes.
