Seattle based band, Childbirth, released a new album, it’s a girl, on January 7, 2014 with one track catching my attention.
The all girl band, with Julia Shapiro in charge of vocals, takes a refreshingly cool spin on the punk elements in their funny songs. The lyrics in itself, “I don’t want to be your girlfriend, I don’t want to be your friend, I only f**ked you as a joke”, are catchy for the female audience that would most likely be the only group to gravitate towards Childbirth’s songs.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/123316075″ params=”color=ff6600&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
The rest of the album is definitely worth checking out with other songs giving a humorous stance on one night stands, lesbianism, and feminism.
Be sure to check out Glitter Frenzy on Tuesdays from 6-7 PM.
