New Track/Album Annoucement: Iceage

Today, the popular and critically acclaimed Iceage announced their upcoming album, Plowing Into the Field of Love, as well as released a new track to be featured on the album, titled “Forever”.
Reception towards their last track, “The Lord’s Favorite” was mixed, with some fans turned off by the stylistic change, seeming to take great influence from the Gun Club, Nick Cave, and even the Libertines. Other fans, however, have embraced that track, and I definitely fall into that category.
“Forever” isn’t as frantic and Libertines-ish as “The Lord’s Favorite”, preferring to take a very dark approach. The slow tempo builds and falls, like climbing up a mountain and then diving into the the ocean (which fits with the lyrical themes quite well).
This new stylistic approach, while controversial, has caused Iceage to flex their songwriting muscles more than ever. There are distinct parts and movements within “Forever”, something their earlier material occasionally lacked. On top of that, vocalist Elias, who seemed to receive a bit of criticism for his vocals in the past, sounds better than ever on “Forever”: he’s clear, and is minimizing his strain, while still maintaining an impassioned delivery. In short, the future for Iceage looks very promising.
