Throwback Thursday: “Imagine”

Written by on October 9, 2014

On this day 74 years ago, a legend was born. John Lennon was a singer, songwriter, and musician who became famous both as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist. He is associated with 25 #1 hits on the US Billboard Charts. His many accolades include Grammy awards for Song and Album of the Year and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The Beatles’ album, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” is the UK’s 3rd-bestselling album of all time.  Although he was killed in an act that shocked fans around the world, his message of peace has not been forgotten. In 1990, his song “Imagine” was played in 130 countries simultaneously to celebrate and honor what would have been his 50th birthday. Him and his wife, Yoko Ono, were heavy peace activists and this song, the best-selling of his career, reflects his vision and hope for a more peaceful world.
