Throwback Thursday: U2

Written by on November 13, 2014

On this day 26 years ago, U2 began what would become a six-week run at #1 on the US Charts with their sixth album “Rattle and Hum.” U2 is an Irish rock band consisting of Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullens Jr., and Adam Clayton, with Bono acting as the predominant songwriter. Their alternative rock and post-punk sound is a product of many trials and experimentation with different types of music and dance. Though they were criticized early on, U2’s 360° Tour broke the previous record for the highest-grossing (and highest-attended) concert tour ever. They have released 13 albums and have 22 Grammy Awards-more than any other band. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have been named in numerous lists as one of the best bands of all time. “Rattle and Hum,” although receiving mixed reviews from critics, peaked at #1 in 6 countries and was certified 7x Platinum in Canada. This album produced some of U2’s greatest hits, including one of my favorites- Pride (In the Name of Love).
