Support Your Local Music Scene: Dear You

Written by on February 26, 2015

Dear You

The Texas music scene is an interesting market. Over the years, band after band has struggled to attract a hefty local fan base before branching out, and even well established artists struggle to sell concert tickets in the fourth largest city in America.

Hailing from Beaumont, Dear You is one of our own and they are certainly one of the more promising Texas acts of the last few years. In their five short years as a band, vocalist and guitarist Chris Roach, guitarist Thomas Marsella, and drummer Louis Moore have taken over the local music scene with their gritty pop-punk sound, and left their impact in the social media world with their fan-inclusive music video, “If Worried Were Weights,” as well as their ever-growing Twitter following. Their most recent EP I Can Only Blame Myself is an anthem record made up of those heartfelt lyrics that are guaranteed to make you want to sing along at the top of your lungs. The band is currently working on new music that they described as an interesting mix between “Brand New’s Deja Entendu, Fall Out Boy’s Take This To Your Grave, and Taylor Swift’s 1989.”

However, after being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a blown transmission in their van, the band had to cancel the remaining dates of their recent tour. This is a huge blow to a band well on their way to breaking into the national music scene, so Dear You has started an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to purchase a new van.
