New Music Video Makes for Iggy’s Directorial Debut

Written by on March 2, 2015

Iggy Azalea sat in the director’s chair while filming the music video of her new single, “Trouble,” which was released this Friday.

The only way I can characterize the video is to call it three minutes of a modern-day, feminized old western meets Prison Break, seen through the lens of the 70’s. It comes complete with tattooed convicts, car chases (and crashes), bell-bottoms and Jennifer Hudson.

In the video, Hudson plays the cop who arrests Azalea’s boyfriend after he robs a bank, which results in the latter breaking him out of prison. This leads to a lackluster car chase that ends with Iggy accidentally-on-purpose driving into a fire hydrant. While her now EX-boyfriend is being taken away in handcuffs once more, Azalea proceeds to dance out the last 30 or so seconds of the song with Hudson, who I can only assume was her conspirator.

TAMW bae goes to prison.

Unfortunately the dance party ends with another twist when Iggy is the one taken away in handcuffs.

On the whole, the video was simple and fun, if a little hackneyed. 3 and a half stars from me! Check out the video here, and let us know what you think!
