Rae’s Raves: Alessia Cara, Pia Mia, June Favorites and More!

Written by on July 2, 2015

I know what you’re thinking. How in the world did she manage to listen to anything else but Tori Kelly these last few weeks? Well, I’m not saying it was easy, but I succeeded and I live to tell about it. Let’s talk about some of my June favorites!

“Here” by Alessia Cara

But really I would rather be at home all by myself. Not in this room with people who don’t even care about my well being.

Dear Alessia, this song is brilliant. I’ve never gone to a party before … (I know, what am I?) mainly because I’ve never been interested enough to ever go to one because … Netflix. So shout out to Alessia because now I don’t need to.

“Good For You” by Selena Gomez feat. A$AP Rocky

WILL THE REAL SELENA GOMEZ PLEASE STAND UP? “Good For You” has a vibe like nothing else Selena has released before. Like … who gave Selena Gomez the right to be so sensual?! I don’t think I can handle this, but I’m jamming! Although A$AP Rocky was featured in the song and not in the video, I’m not mad at it.

“Do It Again” by Pia Mia feat. Chris Brown and Tyga

Yesss Pia. This song has been on repeat for weeks. I’ve been listening to her for a few years now and being on a track with Chris Brown and Tyga is bound to bring her more success! By the way … is there a song that Chris Brown is not featured on? Asking for a friend)

“Where Are U Now” by Skrillex and Diplo (with Justin Bieber)

OK. The chances of me going outside with my JB merchandise and being accepted was shrinking by the scandal, but now I think it’s safe to step outside again after this hit! This is one of THE coolest music video concepts that I have seen in a long time. Love the song; LOVE the video. It’s so cool how all of the art featured in the video was created by fans! I may or may not have paused the video about 500 times in order to catch some of the drawings and phrases that were said. (Jelena 5ever? hmmm.)

“Golden” by Travie McCoy feat. Sia

I’m cool all by myself, but together we golden.

Travie McCoy can do no wrong in my eyes. This song is adorable. Therefore, REPEAT.

Last but not least, Here’s my June playlist:

  • Britney’s version of “Tom’s Diner” … yessss.
  • I’m so happy to hear a new Fort Minor track. I’ve finally forgiven Mike Shinoda for all of the tears that were cried with “Where’d You Go,” and now “Welcome Back” is perfection and I can’t wait to see if it hits the radio waves.

Enjoy!
