Yeezer: The Unexpected Collaboration Between Kanye West and Weezer

I know what you’re all thinking. Kanye West collaborated with another artist who’s not himself!?

As crazy as this seems, he managed to do this with Jay Z for their 2011 album, “Watch The Throne.” Now that makes sense, as Jay-Z has always been a mentor to Kanye from the beginning. However, collaborating with a completely different artist of a completely different sound doesn’t seem like something ‘Ye would do at this time, and that’s because he did not do it. A 19-year old boy by the name of Alex Hodowanec is the creative genius behind this rock/rap project. The 10-track album blends Kanye’s aggressive poetic words with the heaving rock instrumentation of Weezer’s sound. Occasionally throwing in a chorus from Weezer, the two artists sound as if this collaboration was intentional as the different songs mesh so well together. My favorite song on the project is Through the Hills, which combines Kanye’s “Though the Wire” with Weezer’s “Beverly Hills.” Hodowanec has posted the album online as a free download, which you can get here. Check it out and let me know what you all think about this new sound!
