After battling liver cancer for 18 months, rock and fashion icon, David Bowie, passed away just days after his 69th birthday and latest album release.

The Monday blues reached its peak when the world awoke to discover the loss of one of the most unique talents to date.

David Robert Jones, a.k.a David Bowie, had a music career spanning through 40 years that included hits “Under Pressure,” “Suffragette City,” “Let’s Dance” and “Heroes,” a movie career with an unforgettable role as Jareth the Goblin King in “Labyrinth,” while also giving inspiration to numerous fashion designers throughout the decades.

Taking a break between 2004 and 2012, Bowie blew up social media with his 2013 album release, The Next Day, which landed the No.2 spot on Billboard. His 2016 album, Blackstar, received applauding reviews from fans and critics. The album was released on his 69th birthday, and it is the most beautiful parting gift.

To depart, we remember this touching quote from David Bowie:

I don’t know where I am going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.
