Local, pop punk, and insanely cool. Waterparks formed in 2011 in Houston, Texas. The band consists of Awsten Knight as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Geoff Wigington the backup vocalist and guitarist, and Otto Wood on drums. Not only is this band made up of guys with some really great names, they have also released one album and two EPs. Their newest EP, Cluster, gained quite a bit of attention. Released January 15th of this year, “Cluster” is a track that encourages being yourself and letting yourself get a little crazy. In addition to releasing their newest EP, the band just signed with Equal Vision Records and just finished up touring with Never Shout Never as their opener. Not only did they get the opportunity to be the opener for NSN, but they also opened up in support for Good Charlotte’s reunion on November 19th. If you’ve watched Waterpark from their early beginnings as a young Houston band, this sudden movement towards success and immense growth as a band brings up a feeling of pride for the trio and all their work.

Waterparks is influenced by many other pop punk bands and definitely incorporate pop punk artists into their music making process, they have a unique sound. While predominantly pop punk, there are hints of EDM and retro punk that set them apart from a lot of other pop punk artists. The expertise on the drums and guitars and manipulation of sound makes this band appear bigger than they are and is what makes them destined for pop punk fame.

Waterparks will be performing at Vans Warped Tour this year, be sure to check them out as they’re right on the cusp of making it big! The show is sure to have tons of energy and as a fairly young band they have great stage presence and close with their fans.
