Big K.R.I.T. Releases 12 Freestyles in 12 Hours

Written by on July 8, 2016

Big K.R.I.T. at Warehouse Live.

The tracks make up K.R.I.T.’s first release of the year, XII/XII.

In hip-hop, the practice of rapping over other’s hit songs is nothing new—in fact, it’s how most up-and-comers make a name for themselves. But with 12 mixtapes and two albums under his belt, Big K.R.I.T. delivered some of the year’s best bars over tracks owned by Drake, Schoolboy Q, Rae Sremmurd and Future.

K.R.I.T. is in fine form on XII/XII. Each song puts the shine on his flow—he skillfully strings together syllables on “That Part” and soulfully rides the melody on “Other Side Of The Game.”

XII/XII is simply a collection of freestyles but it’s a pretty cohesive project. Though less preparation may go into the production of tracks like these, they’re just as important as major label albums to an artist’s catalog—and K.R.I.T. has got a great addition with this one.
