Born in Washington D.C., studied in Boston, but based in Brooklyn, Nick Hakim is a breath of fresh air in the world of soul. He popped into the music scene around 2014 with collaborations already under his belt with Casey Benjamin and Gwen Bunn, but 2014 was when he released his EPs, Where Will We Go, Pt. 1 and 2. They were a strong start for the artist, and they were well received, but it would take three years for his debut, full-length album, Green Twins, to be released. In those three years, Hakim honed and crafted his songwriting and musical style. Experiments with his music while performing on the road with other musicians, Hakim played to his strengths and ventured into new lands with Green Twins. It was all the emotion and lyricism of soul paired with hints of psychedelic patterns. Intimate and dreamy. Although Green Twins was released in 2017, it is clear that Hakim has the musical know-how to thrive and succeed in the music scene. His experimentation with every song will lead to interesting and dynamic songs that will pick at the heartstrings while putting one in a dreamlike trance.
