The Year of the Tiger Tour

Myles Kennedy has traversed far from his days of covering Boyz II Men songs (a fun fact he shared in an Artist Q&A in January 2017). The three-time Loudwire’s Vocalist of the Year award winner kicks off his first solo tour on March 6th. Tickets go on sale February 9th for the United States leg of The Year of the Tiger Tour, which will debut in Spokane, Washington on May 2nd. While it is advertised that Myles will perform songs from Alter Bridge, The Mayfield Four and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, it is largely to celebrate and present songs from his first solo album, The Year of the Tiger.

The Year of the Tiger will be released on March 9th. The video for the title track has already been published. The video and song illuminate to the listener the feelings that Myles is exploring in this album. In the video, Myles is walking hand in hand with a young boy through a field. He sings, “The only love I’ve known has slipped away. The only love I’ve known has gone away…In the year of the tiger.” Myles’ father passed in the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Tiger. He states in a press release that is the inspiration for the title track. Further, it inspires the record, which he worked on in total for nearly a decade. The Year of the Tiger is said to be a concept album, in which Myles explores the complex feelings surrounding the death of his father. Much like the video, Myles is leading his child self through the Year of the Tiger.

It is important to remember that while the new release has a softer, more acoustic sound, Myles still possesses that heavy quality. He has a wide range and variety of rock music.

Myles will be in Houston, Texas on May 10th in the Bronze Peacock Room of House of Blues. What song do you hope to see most? Whatever the song, it is highly probable that Myles will bring the heat for an unforgettable show.
