Playboi Carti is Coming to Houston!

Never heard of him?

22 year-old Jordan Carter, better known as Playboi Carti,” is an Atlanta-based rapper currently signed with Interscope Records.

Only just a few years ago, Carti began to acquire attention while working with established rappers Lil Yachty and Houston’s Maxo Kream. Collaborations with friend/mentor ASAP Rocky and even landing a feature on ASAP Mob’s Cozy Tapes: Vol. 1 Friends eventually helped garner enough attention to drop his self-titled mixtape.

Playboi Carti  provided Carti with significant commercial visibility with hit tracks like “Magnolia” andWoke Up Like This.” However, the attention gathered wasn’t only positive. There were, and still are, mixed reviews on his dependence on beats and ad-libs.

One year later, Carti released his debut studio album, Die Lit. The surprisingly lengthy debut featured a ton of artists, most notably Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and even Grime-rapper Skepta. Despite lacking lyrical substance, the project excelled at combining legato flows with catchy hooks and melodic beats. Carti’s slurred speech (border-lining on a speech impediment) and relaxed tone made ambient noise filter through a leaned-out atmosphere that couldn’t be skipped over.

Carti is currently on his Neon Tour in support of his Die Lit project. He will be reaching Houston, specifically the Revention Music Center, on December 22nd. Get your tickets here!
