Oh Funk Me! George Clinton Farewell Tour Comes to Revention Music Center

Written by on August 17, 2019

George Clinton and Parliament will be coming to Revention Music Center on August 25th. The 78 year old funk pioneer and founder of Funkadelic and Parliament will be bringing the groove to Houston on the last leg of his retirement career.

Putting a cap on a career that’s spanned since the 1950s until now, the “Flashlight” and “Mothership Connection” artist will be joined by Galactic, Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk, Miss Velvet, and the Blue Wolf.

Clinton started Parliament while working as a teen in the 1950s under the name The Parliaments. Over time, they went on to produce hits under the names Parliament, Funkadelic, and Parliament-Funkadelic; however, the funky core of the group has remained the same.

Today, Clinton is considered one of the faces on funk’s Mount Rushmore, along with contemporaries Sly Stone and James Brown.

Doors open at six p.m., and tickets are on sale now. A most funky time is guaranteed for all.
