ACL Artist Spotlight: 21 Savage

Austin City Limits will be held in Zilker Park on back to back weekends from October 46 and 11-13. The lineup promised Lil Uzi Vert and 21 Savage to be among the artists performing.

Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, stage name 21 Savage, was born in Newham, England and later move to Atlanta, Georgia. 21 came from nothing, yet has become one of hip hop’s most influential acts. He is a songwriter, rapper, and record producer. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, he is in partnership with Epic Records under Sony. His mixtape “The Slaughter Tapewas released in 2015. It obtained nationwide recognition in part thanks to a collaborations with Savage Mode and Metro Boomin on singles “No Heartand “X. He was also a guest feature in “Sneaking, a single by Drake. The release of “Savage Mode in 2016 took his underground stardom to a mainstream success, selling over 11.6 thousand units in the first week. It charted at number 1 over some big name rappers such as Drake and Logic.

In 2017, 21 Savage released his debut studio album “Issa Album. It debuted at number 2 on Billboard 200. His song “Bank Account” was among the top songs of 2017. He was featured on Post Malone’s number 1 single “Rockstar,” which was nominated under two categories at the 61st Grammy Awards.

His second album released at the end of 2018 titled “I Am > I Was debuted on Billboard 200 at number 1, where it stayed for two straight weeks.
