Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast

Written by on September 12, 2019

Iron Maiden has been a household name in the world of metal for decades. Since the early 1980s, the band has brought theatricality, explosive guitar riffs, and lyrical complexity to the world stage, with 16 studio albums to their name.

Originally founded in East London, UK, the band was started by bassist Steve Harris in 1975. In the early years, the band’s lineup saw multiple different singers, guitarists, and drummers. The current (and longest lived lineup) has Bruce Dickinson on vocals, Steve Harris on bass, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers on guitars, and Michael (Nicko) McBrain on drums.

Iron Maiden is known for their theatricality and complex set design, featuring pyrotechnics, vivid backdrops, and large set pieces. The band’s mascot, Eddie, is also central to Iron Maiden shows, making appearances on stage for years, as well as on the cover of nearly every album ever released by the group.

Iron Maiden’s discography contains 39 total albums, with 16 studio albums, along with 12 live albums, 7 compilations, and 4 EPs. The band is considered one of the most successful metal bands of all time, having sold over 100 million albums and played thousands of live shows. Additionally, the band has multiple gold and platinum albums, both in the US and the UK, including “The Number of the Beast,” “Powerslave,” and “Piece of Mind,” as well as a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, for the song “El Dorado.”

With a long list of hits such as “The Number of the Beast” and “Run to the Hills,” Iron Maiden concerts are always a spectacle to behold. This year’s Legacy of the Beast tour celebrates the band’s history and hits, and also promotes Iron Maiden’s mobile game of the same name.

Iron Maiden will perform at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands on September 22nd, 2019.
