Growing up, we’re often asked the question: who do you want to be when you grow up? For most, the answer to this question changes with age yet some individuals never lose their affinity for their childhood dream careers. Danny Brown is one of them. From the moment he started talking, he spoke in rhymes […]

Atlanta rapper Killer Mike and Brooklyn producer El-P pursued solo work for 20 years before 2013, when they became rap duo Run the Jewels. The two first worked together on Killer Mike’s album R.A.P. Music (2012), which El-P produced. This could even be seen as a proto-RTJ record, as before the song “JoJo’s Chillin’” Killer […]

http://gty.im/831443708 This is Chance The Rapper’s part, nobody else speak. Chance The Rapper, aka Lil Chano From The 79th, has proven to be a distinct artist in the hip hop game in the past few years. His debut mixtape, 10 Days, with features from artists like Vic Mensa and production from Flying Lotus, was released on […]

Gorillaz, an British band created in 1998, has made a comeback this year with their new album Humanz (2017). The band is known for being a “virtual band,” represented by 4 cartoon characters. These characters explore a fictional universe through their music, videos, and a series of short cartoons. This creative aspect is one facet […]

Crystal Castles, a Canadian electronic duo, has been taking their punk-rock inspired electronic sound throughout the nation over the past 2 years. They gained attention back in 2008 when they released their self-titled first album, Crystal Castles. From underground punk scenes to raves, their music gained a wide fan base, and it has only grown since […]

A unique blend of folk and indie pop, Angel Olsen broke on the scene as a touring member for Bonnie “Prince” Billy. Her debut LP Half Way Home (2012) was a critical success, an emotional folk album focused around Olsen’s striking voice and acoustic guitar. Her sound expanded with her next work Burn Your Fire […]

SuperDuperKyle is making moves once again in Austin for this year’s ACL fest. Formally known as K.i.D (Kyle Is Determined), the singer/rapper from Ventura, California isn’t afraid to let loose and have fun with his music. Often using sound effects from video games or 90’s inspired beats, the pop-rapper’s music -although cheesy at times – […]

Realizing Solange’s A Seat at the Table will be turning one later this month is truly wild. Not only was the project one of the best albums of 2016 (some might even argue it was the best) but the year following its release was quite a year for Solange. Her record was #1 on both Apple […]

Written by Waylon O’Day and Raj Radia The fifteenth annual Austin City Limits Music Festival was an experience for sure, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always a good experience. The good definitely outweighed the bad, but regardless, some acts soared, while others faltered heavily. Here are Waylon and Raj’s favorite, and least favorite sets […]

Coverage by Waylon O’Day and Raj Radia The third and final day of the fifteenth annual Austin City Limits Music Festival has come and pass. I have to thank both the festival promoters and the music gods for a relaxing Sunday afternoon, after two days of nonstop walking, standing, jumping, and sometimes running I felt […]

Coverage by Waylon O’Day and Raj Radia It seemed hard to top the first day of ACL’s second weekend, but thanks to performances from Anderson .Paak, Cage the Elephant, and Kendrick Lamar somehow managed to do it. Saturday’s weather was arguably better than Friday’s with more of a steady temperature which kept things manageable even […]

Coverage by Waylon O’Day and Raj Ravida The second weekend of Austin City Limits was greeted with cool breezes and clouds that blocked the harsh sun from the thousands of people that gathered into Zilker Park to enjoy performances from some of the biggest names in music. The first day always seems the most hectic, […]

http://gty.im/478004958 Die Antwoord is South Africa’s answer to hip-hop. In 2008, rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser joined forces with producer DJ Hi-Tek to create the alternative group. The trio are some of the leading faces of Zef, a South African counter-culture movement that mimics the style of early ’90s east coast rap. In 2009, Die […]

http://gty.im/105226726 LCD Soundsystem is the definition of a one-man band.

For most of us, Radiohead has been redefining the music industry since before we were born. Rightly so, considering their debut single is one of the most well known songs of all time. This year, they will headline at ACL, becoming one of the most anticipated acts of the entire festival.

If you’re first three singles reached the top 5 alternative singles art, you might be Young the Giant. If you perform your songs out in the open for your fans, you might be Young the Giant. If you’re performing both weekends at this year’s ACL Festival, then you’re definitely Young the Giant.
