Taking Back Sunday, Letlive and the Menzingers continued onto to what was their second stop of their North American tour at nonetheless than Houston’s very own House of Blues. In what was a night full of all kinds of craziness and explosive musical energy the performances were superb to say the least.
We arrived at the show a little past seven to catch Letlive take the stage. The opening band was something unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. The California based band was all kinds of erratic. From climbing up to the balcony from one of the drapes to flinging his microphone across stage, the bearded lead singer definitely warmed up the audience with all kinds of oddities, controversial stage rants and of course super engaging music.

The wait in between sets was hardly felt as fans made their way up to the stage, purchased band merchandise and of course wondered what became of the eccentric lead singer who was last seen screaming through his last song on the balcony.

Promptly at nine or so, Taking Back Sunday graced their anxious audience as they lounged onto stage. Dressed in all black, and sporting his shoulder length hair in a wild mess Adam Lazzara kicked off the concert like a true rock star as he belted out the first few songs with sheer intrigue. The band played with fantastic dynamic and delivered their songs with great energy that took the audience back to the great age of early 2000’s alternative rock.

In all, Taking Back Sunday put on a stellar performance that included some of their infamous throwback favorites like Liar and A Decade Under the Influence. The enthusiasm from the audience made the show even better, as people of all ages sang along to every word, hopped around to every beat and of course, crowd surfed to their heart’s delight.

The concert was definitely a wonderful way to welcome in the end the of the week and of course an awesome show worthy to keepsake for years to come.
