Spring Break 2015: Free Local Shows Around the City

It’s almost here! The time of the year we all let loose, Spring Break. Midterms have our brains squeezed dry and we are ready to rejuvinate. Luckily, we live in Houston and we have a great music and art scene. So, start off your Spring Break by supporting your local talents while having fun with your friends.

From 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 @ Last Concert Cafe

Visionary Noise and The Houston Free Thinkers have put together this all-day block party. It will combine art, music, poetry, and even activism in the east side of Downtown. What’s even better is that it’s a FREE festival.

Here’s a few acts chosen from the diverse lineup:

Morphis Art – an amazing live painter, Chris Morphis wows the crowd with transcendent visions on canvas. Great to see!

Mantra Love – if you love acidic visions of colorful lights and sexy howls, check out this psych rock band!

 LIL-TREY – Hip-Hop artist, AKA Fly-Trilla!

Funeral Horse – This “Stoner Metal” band brings back that old metal sound and it’s fun to jam to!


HUMAN DO’INGS ART SHOW

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 14 @ Bombshell Hair Shop LLC (2802 White Oak Dr. #400)

A “dual mixed media art show” with music, Saint Arnold’s and Karbach! After party @ Big Star Bar!

STICKY FINGERS: STICKER ART SHOW

From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 14 @ Insomnia Video Game Culture (724 W. 19th St.) 

This will showcase almost 20 local artists with their original sticker designs , along with free refreshments and giveaways.

SKIN IN THE GAME

From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, March 14 @ Avant Garden (411 Weistheimer Rd.)

Now this one is going to be a good one with a sick lineup at a house turned into bar, you couldn’t ask for more!

Here’s some good acts:

FLCON FCKER – one of Houston’s top electronic acts. You don’t want to miss this!

android genius – sick beats!

Roosh Williams – an amazing local hip-hop artist with a strong voice and cultural background!

From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, March 14 @ The Black Barbie (3621 Canal St.)

Here’s another nice lineup at this self-made venue that used to be a taqueria!

popeNQM – a very different act everyone should experience!

This event requires a $5 cash cover charge but it includes refreshments.
