Austin Psych Fest Artist Spotlight: L.A. WITCH

Written by on April 20, 2015

Since 2011, girl group L.A. Witch have been earning a name for themselves in the rock world. The trio—who hail from, well, Los Angeles—is comprised of Sade Sanchez, Irita Pai and Ellie English, providing vocals and guitar, bass and organ, and drums respectively.

The group self-describes as “reverb-soaked punked-out rock,” and they are not wrong. L.A. Witch’s most recent, self-titled EP is a clear representation of their musical style. They keep things simple—sticking to easy guitar riffs and uncomplicated vocals grounded by measured drum beats. Two things, however, set these ladies apart—Sanchez’s dark, poignant lyrics and their overall lo-fi sound. These elements combine to create a trippy experience for the listener, making L.A. Witch a perfect addition to Austin Psych Fest’s lineup.

Austin Psych Fest: Levitation runs May 8-10 in Austin, TX. Purchase passes here.
