#WomanCrushWednesday: Devon Baldwin

Written by on July 8, 2015

The future looks bright for emerging singer-songwriter Devon Baldwin.

Once a contestant on the eighth season of American Idol, Baldwin—who hails from San Francisco, CA—has since grown up and hit her stride. She has collaborated with the likes of JMSN, Skizzy Mars and G-Eazy, and impressed crowds during her first showcase at SXSW in Austin earlier this year.

Baldwin’s musical style blends pop and R&B with a varied vocal range to create a dreamy subgenre all in its own.

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a total girl-crush on Devon Baldwin, and she’s my #WCW for two reasons.

Firstly, she’s a talented vocalist—Baldwin’s vocals are on par with, if not better than, some of the biggest names in pop music today. The quality of her voice is something to marvel and is refreshing to hear at a time when most pop musicians sound manufactured.

Secondly, her style is impeccable. Baldwin constantly manages to look perfectly put together while still projecting a sort of effortlessness. She is almost always dressed in black and white ensembles, and is the chicest person I’ve ever seen, hands down.

Baldwin’s debut EP, Lungs, is currently in production. In the meantime, keep up with her on Twitter, Instagram and SoundCloud.
