On Tuesday, Nick Jonas rolled into Houston, Texas. This tour featured an opener, Bebe Rexha, a sololist who specializes in pop and EDM styles of music. The large crowd responded greatly to her sound and she was an excellent start to the night. The fans were ecstatic as Nick Jonas himself took the stage right on time and began preforming one of his popular singles, Chains.

Mr. Jonas has been preforming almost his entire life since he got his start in theatre at a very young age. The experience shows because has a comfortable stage presence that is more than apparent for any observer.

There was more than just music to the show on that Tuesday evening. The stage production was very impressive as, at one point, it featured a wraparound curtain that engulfed the stage and even covered Jonas himself. The projections shown through the curtain made it possible to see Jonas through waves of water while he performed. If you don’t know, this level of intricate stage design is not common, especially not for a venue this size, and was refreshing to see.

For a portion of the show, Jonas was given an acoustic guitar, on which he played some of his former music, such as Who I Am, from the Nick Jonas and the Administration era, and Give Love A Try, from his former band, the Jonas Brothers. He also talked a view minutes about things that have been going on in his life and how nice it was to be in Houston!

We were treated to many covers that evening, including “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd, “Roses” by Outkast, and “Hotline Bling” by Drake. He also let us in on the fact that he’ll be releasing a new album soon and we should expect great things. He played his new single entitled “Never Get Over You,” which he just shot the music video for, as well as another new song. The Houston audience was one of the first groups of people to hear them and the songs were well received. Overall, Jonas’ new audiences will be very pleased as he preformed a large part of his newest self-titled album. I think it’s safe to say that we’ll see Nick Jonas back in Houston again soon, who knows? Maybe at Revention Music Center!
