Formed in 2008, Eduardo Arenas, Carlos Arévalo, Bardo Martinez, Gabriel Villa combined their musical talents to create the four-man latin rock band known as Chicano Batman. The group describes their music being heavily influenced by Brazilian tropicalia, spacey psychedelia, and slow-jam soul.

Their first self-titled album, Chicano Batman makes these influences very apparent. Many of the tracks on the album are sung in several languages such as English, of course, Spanish, and Nahuatl, which is an Aztec language. However, despite the language barrier, the instruments and singing interact beautifully to create a memorable first album. Listen to their first album on Spotify below (“Itotiani”, “A Hundred Dead and Loving Souls”, and “Soniatl” are some of my favorites)!

Their second album, Cycles of Existential Rhyme is their latest album to date next to their recent single, “Black Lipstick.” Cycles of Existential Rhyme is, in my opinion, their best album to date. Watch their official music video for “Cycles of Existential Rhyme” and listen to their second album and recent single below.

If you are considering attending FPSF, buy tickets before they sell out! You certainly won’t want to miss the unique sound and chemistry of Chicano Batman. Purchase your passes here!
