Day for Night Artist Spotlight: James Blake

Written by on November 22, 2017

James Blake is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer from London whose talent has been gaining major attention over the last few years. His subdued, downtempo energy and sound is chill but extremely powerful at the same time. His voice is strong, melodic, and haunting, and some of his newer music reaches new audiences with more features and variety in his sound. On his most recent album, The Colour In Anything, he has songs with features from Vince Staples, Bon Iver, and more. He has also worked Beyonce, producing two songs for her album Lemonade, “Pray You Catch Me” and “Forward.”

In addition to his significant and successful work producing, his own albums have also been successful on the charts. He currently has three studio albums out, and has won awards for his well-known song “Retrograde.” His talent becomes clear when listening to his music and powerful voice, as well as music he has produced for other artists, and seeing how well he succinctly maintains his own style in everything he does while also being versatile. His artistry on a level few modern artists have mastered.

He is joining this year’s lineup for Day for Night festival, here in Houston this winter. He will playing alongside Nine Inch Nails, St. Vincent, Thom York, Pretty Lights, and more, and you won’t want to miss this stacked lineup and unique festival.
