BUKU Artist Spotlight: Jai Wolf

Written by on January 31, 2018

Jai Wolf is a New-York based electronic producer who has recently made his rise to stardom with his EP Kindred Spirits released in 2016, and has spent the last 2 years playing shows and festivals around the world. He was born in Bangladesh in 1991, and soon after, his family came the U.S. and settled in New York. He began producing and playing electronic music at at a local level, and then found his way with beginning his project ‘Jai Wolf’, when he started remixing work of popular artists like ODESZA, Dirty South, and Alesso. These remixes quickly gained popularity and spots on electronic charts, as Jai Wolf began gaining attention. In 2015, he was signed to ODESZA’s label, Foreign Family Collective, through which he released his first singles, “Indian Summer” and “Drive,” which quickly became popular and landed on Spotify’s top streaming charts. After these successful singles, he released Kindred Spirits, his first EP, which was also a success and got him a spot performing at Coachella last year – a big move for such a new artist without a full album even out yet.

With Jai Wolf’s rapid rise to success, it’s clear electronic fans love and want more music that sounds like his and ODESZA’s. A fresh, new, and ‘diverse’ face in electronic music, there is no doubt his personal and musical style are bringing a new wave in the electronic scene. In the last year, Jai Wolf played various festivals around the country, as well as going on his own successful world tour. His live performances are known for being fresh, different, dreamy, and including a good balance of his own music, as well as remixes of other popular artists from various genres. His cross-cultural, cross-genre style is definitely something fresh and different, and you won’t want to miss the chance to check out his brilliant energy live.

Joining a packed and diverse lineup, Jai Wolf will be bringing his music to BUKU Music & Arts festival this spring in New Orleans, one of the best festivals in the country. This vibrant and exciting event will take place March 9-10th in New Orleans. Click here to get your tickets to BUKU and check out Jai Wolf’s Soundcloud below.
