SXSW Artist Spotlight: Haiku Hands

Written by on March 12, 2019

Haiku Hands is an infectious electro-pop trio from Australia who will “Dare You Not to Dance” to their catchy and energetic music. The group comprises of sisters Claire and Mie, who are from Sydney, and their friend Beatrice who is from Melbourne. ‘Haiku’, they say, represents their “lyrical interests, distilled ideas and imagery” and ‘hands’ for “the collaborative nature of our projects.” The group has a unique sound, inspired by rave/dance music, hip-hop, and pop, they draw together different genres and styles seamlessly to create something entirely of their own. Not only is their sound incredible, but it’s their visual art, stage presence, and ‘girl power’ vibe really sets them apart. Their music manifests best when performed live because the girls bring passionate energy and amazing dance/choreography skills that make their tunes to come to life. Their style is vivid, bright, light-hearted, and fun, and they’re sure to bring the party from Australia to anywhere they go. Their latest song and video for “Not About You” perfectly encompasses their youthful, fresh, and creative style. They manage to create a perfect balance between their light, indie style with a more gritty and grungy aspect to them as well. With exciting production, the visual of the video is as mesmerizing as the upbeat jam that goes with it.

Haiku Hands is happy, uplifting, and can definitely get you grooving.
