The Mythical Tame Impala is Coming to Houston!

Written by on August 27, 2019

Ladies and gentlemen, Tame Impala is finally making their triumphant return to Houston after a seven year absence. Kevin Parker and the band are known for their colorful and vibrant performances. This is definitely a show you don’t want to miss, as these chances come rare nowadays.

If you’re not familiar with who Tame Impala is, look no further: I will give a brief introduction to their greatness.

For fresh ears to Tame Impala, you should start with their most popular and recent album Currents, released in 2015. Currents features hits like “The Less I Know The Better,” “The Moment,” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” — which was such a hit that Rihanna covered the song for Anti. Their sound is like something pulled from the psychedelic era of the 70s but rewashed with a modern twist, making the album an instant classic. The lyrics hold an equal value to the production, as the each song tells a story about dealing with the up and downs of life.

Lonerism is the next recommend album to listen, released in 2012 with a sound more telling of their rock beginnings. This album featured groovy tunes like “Why Won’t They Talk To Me?,” “Mind Mischief,” and “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.” This album will give you a natural high as if you were sitting and watching them live at Woodstock. I also highly recommend listening to their debut album Innerspeaker, which featured electric tracks like “Alter Ego” and “Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind?” that deal with loneliness and finding one’s worth in the world.

If I’ve sold you on Tame Impala, then my job here is done. Be sure to check them out live at White Oak Music Hall on October 5th. Tickets are currently sold out, but you can join the waitlist here— while you wait, don’t forget to kick back and listen to their latest singles, “Patience” and “Borderline.”
