ACL Artist Spotlight: Lil Uzi Vert

Written by on September 25, 2019

Born Symere Woods, Liz Uzi Vert is a young rapper and songwriter from Philadelphia. Uzi released his first project,”Purple Thoughtz Vol. 1” in 2014, heavily influenced by Kanye’s “808’s and Heartbreaks”. He followed it with single “White Sh*t” that went viral, becoming his introduction to the mainstream.

His fame rose after the release of the critically acclaimed “Luv is Rage” in 2015, earning him a record deal with Atlantic under DJ Drama’s “Generation Now” Imprint Label. The single “Money Longer” was released in 2016 from his fourth mixtape “lil uzi vert vs the world”, ending at 54 on The Billboard Hot 100.

Uzi’s debut album “Luv is Rage 2” earned him around $2 million, selling 135,000 units. Some of Uzi’s notable releases include “Erase Your Social“, “The Way Life Goes“, “Sauce It Up“, and “Do What I Want“. However, he is best known for a feature on Migos single “Bad and Boujee,” staying at number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for 14 consecutive weeks. Uzi’s most popular solo track is “XO tour life,” which in my opinion, is a smash. Initially, it was just a track released on soundcloud. But due to increased attention, it was later released on all platforms. The song reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his most second popular song.

His second studio album,”Eternal Atake,” has Uzi fans on the edge of their seats. Due to issues behind the scenes, Uzi has repeatedly pushed back the release of this album, causing him to eventually leave his label. Though plagued with problems from his former label, money wasn’t one of them. Uzi Vert’s net worth is estimated at $17 million. He has since joined Roc Nation,  planning to drop Eternal Atake any day now. Any true Uzi fan can’t miss his performance at this year’s ACL Festival. To purchase your tickets click ‘here‘.
