Travis Scott Dominated Corporate America in 2020

Written by on January 29, 2021

Last year, Travis Scott set himself apart from other rappers and sought to venture out during a time that was very difficult for artists in general. I put together a list of some of his biggest achievements outside of the music realm.

2020 has come to a close. The year was stressful, depressing, and just downright TRASH. The global pandemic has put a strain on everybody’s life in some shape or form. Particularly, the music industry has been somewhat put on hold, when it comes to artists releasing new music, performing with live audiences, etc. However, one artist made a killing last year and his music is only a small part of it. Throughout the year, Travis Scott had remained relevant in many facets due to his numerous business ventures that we witnessed all year long. Here’s a list of the thing’s he’s did:

First – Fortnite Concert

His digital concert in Epic Games’ Fortnite in April was something to behold. This is where he performed several songs and debuted the track, “The Scotts” featuring Kid Cudi. According to Forbes, he made about 20 million dollars from it.

Second – McDonald’s Collab

He collaborated with the iconic and quite possibly most well known fast food restaurant of all time, McDonald’s. He was able to get his own branded meal on the menu. He’s been enjoying the same meal ever since he was a kid living in Missouri City, Texas, which is just outside of Houston.

Third – PS5

Then, the Astroworld rapper announces his partnership with PlayStation for the release of the PS5 as a strategic creative partner. Additionally, he released a shoe along with the announcement.

Fourth – “Space Rage”

Lastly, he released a new fragrance and candle called, “Space Rage” in collaboration with fragrance maker, Byredo. Apparently, it smells like space.

There are only a handful of artists that have truly parlayed their success from music into an entire successful and varied business empire.  As Scott is not even 30 years old, he joins the likes of Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, etc as a hip-hop artist that establishes generational wealth through various business ventures.

Most importantly, Scott is also showing how young artists can establish long term wealth whenever they start to come up in the music industry. As much as you hear artists complaining about the bad deals they have with their music labels, you rarely hear about what some artists may be doing to make sure they don’t go broke. Hopefully, they will learn and follow the footprints that Scott left last year in the business world.

For young artists, the music should always come first, but figuring out how to establish generational wealth for themselves and their families should be a close second. And we’re happy to see it as well as are looking forward to how Scott continues to grow and expand in the future.
