Beach Bunny Rocks the Monday Blues Away at their Houston Show

Written by on December 26, 2021

Indie rock band Beach Bunny made their way to Houston during their Blame Game North American tour with opener Miloe. Before doors opened at 7PM, it was easy to overhear everyone in line talking about their favorite Beach Bunny tracks and their fame status on TikTok. As soon as you entered the venue, the first thing you saw was Blame Game (which is Beach Bunny’s most recent EP) vintage arcade games on each side of the stage and a huge disco ball on the roof. It felt like it was a party that was yet to come.

The band only had one opener — Miloe. He took the stage around 8PM, and he definitely made his time on stage worthwhile. After his third song, he introduced his band — Jake on guitar, Conrad on bass and Theo on guitar. The song that really stuck out to me was “Winona,” as the song was a cool tune to just vibe. He ended the set with his song “Space and Time,” and it was an absolute banger. He was constantly encouraging the crowd to mosh safely, and that’s exactly what everyone did.

The anticipation for Beach Bunny was immense. Before they came on, the infamous Queen song “Don’t Stop Me Now” played on the house speakers, and everyone was singing! The song ended, and all the members of the band walked on stage. They tuned their instruments, and then kicked off their headlining set by playing their TikTok hit “Prom Queen,” where the entire venue sang along and danced their butts off.

The best part of the show had to be when they played their new track “Oxygen,” which was released about two months ago. They had twinkling lights as their stage background, and it felt like we were taken into space with them. They continued with their song “Good Girls (Don’t Get Used),” followed by “April”, where lead singer Lili Trifilio encouraged fans to put their phone lights up. After playing their hit songs from their discography, they ended their set with their other viral hit “Cloud 9.”

For the encore, the band returned and played a cover of Katy Perry’s “Hot N’ Cold,” and closed out the show with their song “Painkiller.” Overall, the show was incredible and Beach Bunny certainly did not disappoint. They were extremely quirky while performing on stage, and did their absolute best to spread their positivity to their fans. Beach Bunny definitely showed off their live music talent, and we can’t wait for them to return to Houston in the future.
