Action Bronson Brings the Energy at House of Blues

Written by on March 4, 2022

The house was packed from the onset. Filled to the brim, the energy in House of Blues was chill but excited as the first of three acts took the stage. Hailing from Detroit, MI, Boldy James captivated the crowd in a way seldom seen from an opening act. Rapping through a full 45 minute set, James consistently kept the attention of the fans and the energy high.

Next up on the bill, and for some fans the highlight of the show, Earl Sweatshirt. The LA native has spent his career creating music that refuses to conform to the expectations of the industry with harsh beats and short tracks. Moving back and forth around the stage, Sweatshirt, a former Odd Future member, enthralled the crowd with hits, at one point bringing producer The Alchemist on stage.

All three artists on the bill have worked with The Alchemist, James for two recent albums, and Action Bronson on several projects from music to his Vice show Fuck, That’s Delicious.

After Sweatshirt’s set, and a brief changeover, the headliner for the night, Action Bronson took the stage. The east coast native rapped and moved around the stage with the swagger of a wrestler, stopping to flex and show off intermittently throughout the set. Sporting a sleeveless, cut up tour tee, Bronson enthralled the crowd with tracks spanning his career, including “Baby Blue” and “Actin Crazy”

Towards the end of the show, Bronson brought out a myriad of guests, from James and Sweatshirt, to The Alchemist, and, to the joy of the crowd, local Houston artists Le$ and Bun B.

Even at the end of the show, the crowd was still full of energy, keeping up with the brashness of Bronson’s set. All in all it was a great way to spend a Friday evening.
