Music and Being On the Spectrum (Playlist)

Music evokes emotion for everyone. It’s one of the best, if not the best, things about it. As someone on the spectrum, music has always been something I have used when I literally had no way of expressing what I was feeling; negative or positive. In fact, I have a playlist of songs that I happy stim to. When I’m overstimulated or if I’m happy, I just throw on this playlist. Since April is Autism Acceptance Month, here are songs that make me so excited, I can’t help but flap my arms and kick my legs.

1. “Night Sky” by CHVRCHES

2. “Greek Tragedy” by The Wombats (Oliver Nelson TikTok Remix)

3. “Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise” by Dance Gavin Dance

4. “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet

5. “I Don’t Do Drugs” by Doja Cat (feat. Ariana Grande)

6. “Waiting For Tomorrow” by Martin Garrix and Pierce Fulton (feat. Mike Shinoda)

7. “Fireflies” by Make Way for Man (Owl City cover)

8. “Kingslayer” by Bring Me the Horizon (feat. BABYMETAL)

9. “Unlock It (Lock It)” by Charli XCX (feat. Kim Petras and Jay Park)

10. “Faint” by Linkin Park

What are some songs that give you a sense of euphoria? If you are on the autistic spectrum, what are some songs that make you happy stim?

Say something
