Recent 3x Grammy Winner Olivia Rodrigo to Perform a Sold-Out Show at Houston’s 713 Music Hall

It’s safe to say that we all know the heart-wrenching bridge to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License,” and we can’t get enough. After selling out her world tour in a matter of minutes, Olivia Rodrigo will bring her “SOUR” tour to the 713 Music Hall on May 12th with special guest Holly Humberstone.

Olivia Rodrigo is best known as the Disney actress who starred in shows like Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. After showcasing her music skills in HSMTMTS, the 18 year-old singer/songwriter quickly became an artist on the rise – she reached mainstream success with her debut single and one of 2021’s most-streamed songs of the year, “Driver’s License.” She broke multiple records with the release, such as “fastest song to reach 100 million streams” on Spotify and “most requested song of a single day” on Alexa (Amazon). Rodrigo is also the youngest artist ever to debut at the top of the US Billboard Top 100 chart.

She rode on the wave of her success and released two more singles, “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U,” which also appeared on the Billboard Top 100. On April 13th, Rodrigo announced the date and tracklist for her debut album SOUR, which was originally supposed to be an EP. SOUR was subsequently released on May 21, 2021 – a collection of melancholic break-up songs full of teen angst and anguish. Perfectly organized, Rodrigo’s debut album is full of vigorous emotion which runs through every single track, as heard in songs like “traitor,” “brutal” and “jealousy, jealousy.” While the album contains minor shortcomings, Rodrigo definitely proves that she is selfless and empowered at such a young age through her music – something that needs to be highlighted in today’s music scene.

After the release of the debut album, Rodrigo kept things interesting by hosting SOUR prom, where she performed a few songs from the album in a prom-themed setting (which was live-streamed on YouTube). Most recently, she released a film called Driving Home 2 U: a SOUR film, a documentary about the writing/creation process of her debut album, topped with a few intimate performances and alternate arrangements. She was also nominated for a total of seven Grammy awards, of which she won three (Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album).

Olivia Rodrigo fans, also known as ‘livies,’ were all prepared for the SOUR Tour, which she announced via Twitter on December 6th, 2021. Even with Ticketmaster selling tour tickets to verified fans only, all US/UK/Europe tour dates sold out quickly. Rodrigo hit the road and started off the SOUR tour in Portland on April 6th, and will soon be making a stop on Thursday, May 12th with opening act Holly Humberstone at Houston’s 713 Music Hall. While tickets are currently sold-out, it definitely is one of Houston’s most anticipated shows of the year, so keep checking the ticket link for more information, as this is a show you don’t want to miss!
