Float Fest Artist Spotlight Part One – Indie

Written by on June 13, 2022

Float Fest 2022 is making its return to Texas after a three year hiatus, this time in a brand new locations and lots of cool vibes. This year’s festival lineup has a great mix of different genres – from indie pop to hip-hop to EDM – and we’re all here for it. In anticipation for the festival, here are a few acts that we are excited to see in Gonzales, Texas this July.

CHVRCHES

Coog Radio had the honor of covering CHVRCHES during their “Screen Violence” Fall North American Tour. The synth-pop indie band consists of lead singer Lauren Mayberry and members Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. They are well-known for tracks like “The Mother We Share,” “Recover,” “Miracle,” and “Leave a Trace.” They are currently on tour on the second leg of their Screen Violence tour, in which they are promoting their latest album Screen Violence, which was released in August 2021. Besides their amazing tunes that anyone can dance to, their stage presence is beyond exceptional – they love interacting with crowds and their stage setups always match their song’s theme. We are more than excited to see them again in Texas, this time on a stage near the beautiful Guadalupe River.

Cage the Elephant

The last time Cage the Elephant was in Texas was a few months before the world shutdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, when they performed in Austin for the “Hi, How Are You” Benefit Series in January 2020. Cage the Elephant are well-known in the indie music scene, as they have provided bangers like “Come a Little Closer” and “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” as well as songs us indie kids can cry to like “Shake Me Down” and “Cigarette Daydreams.” Their latest album, Social Cues, was released in 2019, a more uncanny album full of raw emotion and energy compared to their previous works. Since Cage the Elephant didn’t get the opportunity to tour this album, the band is making their return in 2022 and we are so happy to welcome back to Texas.

Vampire Weekend

Everyone knows the iconic “A-Punk” guitar riff. This song, along with “Oxford Comma,” put Vampire Weekend on the map, and we’ve been blessed with their works ever since. Vampire Weekend – which consists of members Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson – formed in 2006 and hail from the streets of New York City. After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2008, they reached mainstream success with following albums like Contra and Modern Vampires of the City, which include tracks like “Holiday” and “Unbelievers” respectively. Vampire Weekend released their fourth album, Father of the Bride, in 2019, which was their first project in almost six years. After their North American Tour in 2020 was subsequently cancelled, they are scheduled to perform in a number of festivals in 2022, including the legendary Float Fest in Texas. Vampire Weekend is definitely an act we recommend checking out live, especially if you want to sing along and dance to some of their classic songs.

Two Feet

If you haven’t heard of Two Feet by now, you are definitely missing out. Introducing yet another New York artist on our list – Bill Dess, who goes by the stage name Two Feet, is an up-and-coming electro-soul artist who is best known for viral songs like “Go F*** Yourself” and “I Feel Like I’m Drowning.” He released his first album, A 20 Something F***, in 2018, followed by his sophomore album Pink in 2020 and his third album Max Maco Is Dead Right? in 2021. Two Feet has toured with bands like Panic! at the Disco, as well as headlining various shows in Texas. After riding the wave of his viral success, he released his fourth album Shape and Form earlier this year, right on time for his Float Fest debut. His passion for music is vibrant in his works, bleeding through in his live performances and making Two Feet a worthy act to catch.
