Dayglow Performs at House of Blues for the People In Motion Tour

Two days after the release of his third album, Sloan Struble, frequently known as Dayglow, hit the road along with Ritt Momney to begin the People In Motion tour. The tour began in October, 2022 and will end in early December with thirty-four shows across North America. On Saturday, October 29, 2022, The performer brought his music to House of Blues Houston.

The show began around 8:00 p.m. with opener, Ritt Momney. Momney’s set was very chill, yet had the perfect amount of energy to pump the crowd up for the headlining act. Many of his songs had the crowd swaying back and forth. The singer started with “HEADSTART,” from his newest album, Sunny Boy. Some of the other songs performed included, “Wormwood,” “Set the Table,” and his very popular cover of Corinne Bailey Rae‘s, “Put Your Records On.” The musician explained that he has been waiting for so long to tour with Dayglow after he was initially asked in 2020. The set lasted for about 40 minutes and concluded with curtains being drawn on stage and a huge round of applause from the audience.

Dayglow took the stage around 9:00 p.m.. His entrance was super relaxed as he walked on stage with his band and gave a casual wave to the crowd. The show kicked off with “Radio,” the second track on the People In Motion album. Each song was complemented with moving spotlights, vibrant backgrounds, and fun moves. There was a really good mix between the artist’s two albums, Fuzzybrain, and People In Motion, with a few songs from Harmony House as well. The setlist also had a few instrumental covers like “Funkytown” by Lipps, Inc. and “Robot Rock” by Daft Punk, perfectly long enough for small dance or melodica breaks.

Another cool aspect of the show was that the band rarely stopped playing. For instance, despite how different each song sounds, the band seamlessly went from “Medicine” to “Stops Making Sense.” This happened throughout the performance. Rather than ending a song completely, pausing, and then moving to the next, the songs transitioned to one another really nicely. If there did happen to be a pause in the music, the singer made sure to use that time to tell Houston how much he loved them.

Towards the end of the performance, the artist sang one of his biggest hits, “Can I Call You Tonight?” from his debut album. After the song concluded, the audience went wild. If there was someone in the crowd who wasn’t already standing, they were sure to get up at this moment. Everyone applauded for what felt like minutes and it was such a special moment between the artist and his fans. The set wrapped up with “Close to You” right before the singer exited the stage to get ready for the encore.

After a few seconds, the performer came back to the stage to sing “Second Nature.” Knowing that this song was the last, the audience gave all their energy. People were dancing, putting their hands up in the air, and cheering for the musician every chance they got. After the song ended, Dayglow bowed towards the crowd, blew a kiss to everyone, and just like that, the night of great vibes and amazing music at House of Blues ended.
