Fave Cover Friday: Frank Ocean Appreciation Post

As most of you probably already know, after THREE years since releasing “Channel Orange”, Frank Ocean has announced that he will be putting out a new album in the July entitled “Boys Don’t Cry”. Ocean made this announcement on his Tumblr April 6 along with the picture below.

He captioned the picture “‘I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.’   #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY”. People speculated that in 2012, before “Channel Orange” was released, Frank tweeted “#CHANNELORANGE”. So it’s safe to say we can trust the album hashtags and expect something from Mr. Ocean in a few more months.

So where am I going with this..

In celebration of this amazing announcement, I wanted to share some of my favorite Frank Ocean covers.

The first two were by some very talented guys. The second singer, Cortez Shaw,  had a lot of soul in his voice.

The next cover is by one of my favorite singers, Ed Sheeran, covering “Swim Good”. You gotta love an artist appreciating another artist’s work.

And the last post I wanted to share is from Frank Ocean himself and his song “Strawberry Swing”. It’s not much of a cover, but it’s alright. It rather samples Coldplay’s song “Strawberry Swing”.
