Mala Luna Artist Spotlight: Rayne

Written by on October 26, 2017

Born and raised in San Antonio, Rejana Fernandez aka Rayne started to create a brand in 2012 that is now being called ‘Rayne Rising’.

As an All-American teen she loves chocolate, pizza, hanging out with her friends and staying connected through social media. Rayne’s awareness of her natural musical talent didn’t _ to her until 2012 when she realized that that’s where her passion lies. The next few years she began to pursue her dream and has emerged on the music scene with a rich, soulful musical style that resonates of 70s soul and 80s R&B. Her passion leads her to work hard through all the aspects of what it takes to make a name for yourself in the music industry: songwriting, singing, recording, performing, choreography and music videos. Her busy schedule and young age humble her with a spirit of true desire to inspire and motivate others like herself.

Her inspirations come from her family who would play CDs and records of music icons like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green and Diana Ross. Shortly, Rayne started to build her own library of inspirations with Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill and of course, Beyoncé.

Rayne’s first professional single “Circles” was released in 2013 and was featured on The Stars of Tomorrow Top Five Songs. Following that, in 2015, the single “How We Do” and the accompanying music video released. Both received international airplay on radio 2RDJ-FM in Australia. “How We Do” was turned into a remix by duo Klubjumpers and was released in 2016. In the same year, she released her second single “Need To Know”, followed by a music video.

This young artist has showcased her talent by performing as an opening act for headliners like E-40, Kid Ink, TI, Tech9, Becky G and Keith Sweat and Doug E. Furthermore. Additionally, she attended the Billboard Latin Music Conference & Awards Event in Miami where she performed at The Ritz-Carlton in South Beach as a special guest of Steinway & Son’s Artist, Esteban Alvarez. Rayne continues to strive for success with her own artistic style that is bound to touch your soul.
