Reigning Sound (along with every Greg Cartwright vehicle) is one of the best garage rock acts of the past twenty years. On this song, Cartwright flips the idea of a Christmas song on its head by turning in a raw garage ballad about a man whose girlfriend left him lamenting his loss as his ex spends Christmas with someone else. I love it because I love Reigning Sound, I love Greg Cartwright, and I love that it’s a drastic change of pace from the usual uplifting (but rather vapid) Christmas staples.
