FunFunFun Fest Artist: Glassjaw

I can listen to Daryl Palumbo’s voice day in and day out.
A raw, fine yet guttural voice that can go from melodic to screaming in a matter of seconds. It soothes my soul and has for many years now. The first song I fell in love with was Ape Dos Mil and that will always be in my top ten for favorite songs.
Enough of me fan-girling now.
Glassjaw is a post hardcore rock band from Long Island, New York. The band formed in 1993 when lead singer Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck met at a camp.
The origin of the name?
“There’s really is no reason behind it, it just sounded cool.”-Justin Beck
The first album was released in 2000 and titled Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence. It was produced by Ross Robinson, a sound engineer who has worked with like of Slipknot and Korn.
The next highly acclaimed album, Worship and Tribute was released in 2002 and contains gems such as Must’ve Run All Day, Ape Dos Mil, Tip Your Bartender and more. It was also produced by Ross Robinson.
From this album, Glassjaw took a very long hiatus. Both of the core members got involved in other projects. However, starting around 2006, word of a new album was in the making.
After almost five years of twitter teases featuring drum solos and song names, the EP Our Color Green was finally released in 2010.
The vinyl’s for this E P sold out almost instantly.
Hopefully a new album is secretly in the works for Glassjaw. If they serve true to past history, we’ll get a new EP in 2018.
At least they are touring.
Catch them at FFFFest on the Black Stage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 8th.
Also, check out a song that hits close to home.
I’m a bartender. Always tip your bartender.
