FunFunFun Fest Artist: The New Pornographers
Written by Coog Radio on November 5, 2014
Everyone’s favorite Canadian power/indie pop supergroup, the New Pornographers, are playing at Fun Fun Fun Fest!
The New Pornographers (whose primary songwriting core consists of band leader and power pop statesman AC Newman, successful alt-country songstress Neko Case, and Dan Bejar of Destroyer) are basically the quintessential favorite pop band of artsy-fartsy college students (Stephen Colbert mentioned them in a graduation speech to Northwestern University, to great applause), and for good reason. Inventive and catchy melodies and hooks combined with clever lyrics is their thing, and they’ve received great acclaim for it, their first three albums in particular being cited as some of the best pop music of the millennium. They’ll being playing in support of their most recent album, Brill Bruisers, which takes inspiration from the brill building, girl group era of music, which featured dense production and soaring melodies.
The New Pornographers will be playing on the orange stage on Saturday, November 8th, supporting headliner Modest Mouse. Coog Radio will be organizing ticket giveaways during the weeks leading up to the festival, so stay engaged! And stay tuned for more Meet the Artists posts covering the outstanding lineup!
