Throwback Thursday: Two Lost Souls Swimming in a Fish Bowl

Judging by its continued presence in the world today, I find it hard to believe that this song is almost 40 years old. “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd has the kind of timeless quality to it that ensures that it will be regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time for a very long time. In fact, the song and album of the same name have both been named in the Top 500 Songs/Albums of All Time list by Rolling Stone Magazine. After their hugely successful album “The Dark Side of the Moon,” they had trouble trying to top their own greatness. However, this song and the other hidden gems on the album carried it to #1 on both the UK and the US charts. The song’s mellow tone and simple, yet relatable lyrics make the song an instant classic. I have heard the song sung by parents and children together, I’ve seen its lyrics constantly recreated in tumblr posts- it truly spans generations and shows that music, when done right, has no expiration date. Hopefully you know and love this song but if not, I’m happy to be the one to introduce you.
