The Undisputed Queen of Japan, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Drops Short Version Music Video for “Mondai Girl”

Written by on February 26, 2015

She has been called “The Lady Gaga of Japan,” she has been name-dropped by and hung out with Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, and Linkin Park, and set the internet A BLAZE with her innovative and eye-popping music video imagery. Yet, there is something that sets her apart from the stereotype of typical “kawaii” and “J-Pop” normaties that plague the reputation of the market she’s associated with. Now, most of the videos coming from the continent of Asia tend to boggle/fascinate our American perceptions (for example last year’s “Chick Chick” video from China that has over 14 million views on Youtube, yo…) but Kyary actually has the songwriting and performance chops that set her apart from her contemporaries. This might be why she is the reigning Pop starlet of Japan and constantly releases iconic music videos. This is definitely one of my favorites singles she’s released from her 2014 LP “Pika Pika Fantajin” and this short version video for the single “Mondai Girl” (0r “Problem Girl”) will definitely hold you over till the full version comes out. To say I’m a fan of “J-Pop” by any means would be false, but, if YOU are or have always thought about getting into it, give Kyary a listen and watch this video and you will see the genre at it’s best.

Do you like J-Pop? Do you like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu? Do you like long walks on the beach? Let me know in the comments below AND share this on social media and maybe this video can become the next “Chick Chick”

Probably not, that video was on another level…
