LCD Soundsystem is the definition of a one-man band.
Front man James Murphy is responsible for the band’s vocals, drums, bass, organ, synths, guitar and keyboards.
Murphy began recording and releasing singles in 2002. By 2005, the band had released its debut album and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
Between 2006 and 2011, the band released three more albums. Its third LP, Sound of Silver, garnered critical acclaim and another Grammy nomination for the band.
The band’s most recent album, This Is Happening, was released in 2010 and in April of 2011, LCD Soundsystem played what was billed as its last show ever at Madison Square Garden.
Lucky for us, LCD Soundsystem is back on the road and will be playing at Austin City Limits this weekend.
