Spring Breaking Mini Playlist
Written by Viviana Torres on March 10, 2022
Hey Coogs! Spring break is almost here, which means soaking up the sun and enjoying some time off from school to chill and do whatever your heart desires. Here is the perfect playlist to set the scene for your spring break shenanigans, just click on the song title!
“Put Your Records On” – Corinne Bailey Rae
First off, let me say… Who doesn’t like this song? I think this is the perfect song to start off because it’s just so right. To me, it encapsulates sunshine and positivity in the best way with Corinne Bailey Rae’s smooth, sweet vocals and catchy beat. The nostalgia hits hard with this song, but let’s create new great memories. Now go on, let your hair down!
Sapphire and faded jeans
I hope you get your dreams
Just go ahead, let your hair down
You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow
“Tongue Tied” – Grouplove
Tongue Tied is a great high-energy song off of Grouplove’s debut album to hype yourself and your friends up. I love how fun and childish (but in a good way) the chorus is, like a nursery rhyme that anyone and everyone can scream their lungs out to at a party. I dare you to have a blast to this song if you haven’t already.
Take me to your best friend’s house
I loved you then and I love you now
“Naked” – Bickle
Bickle is such an underrated artist who I highly recommend everyone to listen to as he has some really groovy songs with infectious beats. Although he hasn’t released an EP yet, the three singles he has released (such as this one) have been insanely catchy and unique. I know he’s a musician to watch out for! I love the xylophone in this song which gives such a fresh, sparkling effect to the listening experience. Go ahead, play this and release your inhibitions on the dance floor or in your bedroom (disco ball optional).
Give in to the rhythm within
Time won’t stop, it keeps on tickin’
“Zoom” – Last Dinosaurs
When this song plays, I honestly feel like I could do anything, and that could be a good or bad thing depending on the situation… Regardless, this song off Last Dinosaurs’ debut album, In A Million Years from 2012 is one of my favorite songs from them. If you like indie pop-rock, I highly recommend them and this album, as well as their second album Wellness. The guitar in this song is so punchy and the chorus is so inspiring, I always want to sing along when this song plays, and I hope you do too.
I don’t want to be just another
Fighter without fire, nothing to inspire
In a million years when we’re older,
Finally we can be part of history
Romanticist – Yves Tumor
This song has a different tone from the rest, but it’s definitely still jam-worthy. Yves Tumor’s music is so rich and unique that every song he produces is like a separate piece of art, and this song is no exception! “Romanticist” from their album Heaven To A Tortured Mind is beautiful with a gritty edge. In the version that I linked, the first half of the song is softer compared to the latter half of epic sounds and explosions that decrescendos to Yves Tumor’s husky voice again. It’s a song to be experienced for sure. If you enjoy experimental music, Yves Tumor is someone to look into!
Keep you close, right by my side
I swear you’ve got me hypnotized
I wanna give you every piece of me
You know you are my everything
