Levitation Fest ’24: The Lineup of Our Dreams – Amarylis’ Picks
Written by Amarylis Rodriguez on August 30, 2024
On Halloween Weekend from October 31st to November 3rd, 2024, the Levitation festival will be back in Austin! With shows happening in all of Austin’s iconic venues, such as Stubbs and Mohawk, and an absolutely amazing lineup, we can safely say that this festival might just be our favorite of the year.
Here are a few artists to catch, by date, at Levitation:
October 31st
The Black Angels
The Black Angels are a psych-rock band native to Austin. Formed in 2004, their presence remains strong not only in the city but everywhere else as well.
Catch their headlining set at Stubbs at 4:00PM with Mdou Moctar and Boogarins.
Frost Children
Duo, Frost Children, is widely known for their perfect combination of alternative elements and electronic tunes, which makes something truly unique and amazing. If you get the chance, I would definitely recommend catching their set.
They will be playing at Mohawk at 9:00PM with Her New Knife and headliner, Julie.
November 1st
The Drums
Indie fans everywhere probably rejoiced to the sight of The Drums being listed on the lineup. After seeing him live back in 2023, I can confidently say that his stage presence is off the charts. Be prepared to be stunned by his killer dance moves and all the vibes.
He will be sharing the stage with fellow indie icon, Soccer Mommy, and Yungatita at Stubbs at 5:00PM.
Fat Dog
Speaking about artists with impeccable stage presence, Fat Dog has got it like no other. I saw them earlier in the year at SXSW and their set was full of mosh pits, dancing and crab hands. Not only will you get the gift of their music, but you will be very entertained as well.
Fat Dog will be at The Far Out Lounge at 3:00 PM, along with a great lineup of artists including Dry Cleaning and The Jesus Lizard.
November 2nd
Washed Out
Widely known for his amazing use of synths and guitar, Ernest Greene (more commonly known as Washed Out), will be at Levitation for a dream-pop show that will come straight out of our dreams.
Catch Washed Out and his hit, “Feel It All Around,” at Far Out Lounge at 4:20PM.
The Dare
The Dare is here to bring Indie Sleaze (with a modern twist) back into the music world. He started in the New York scene but quickly blew up after collaborations with artists such as Charli xcx. According to their song, “Guess,” everyone now knows that The Dare “is with it.”
The artist will by at Glaze Magazine at the Kingdom for a DJ Set at 10:00PM that I cannot wait to catch.
November 3rd
Slowdive
Slowdive has been known to be the ultimate showgaze band, and I would say that is a hundred percent correct! Since first releasing music in the late 80s to current day, they have continued to shine and stand out as a band beloved by people of all ages.
Catch Slowdive’s performance at Far Out Lounge at 5:00PM.
Glare
Hailing all the way from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, Glare is an alternative rock band that has been shaking up the scene recently. With close to a million monthly listeners on Spotify, they are definitely going to be one band to see at the festival.
Glare will be performing along with Slowdive at Far Out Lounge at 5:00PM.
