Tems’ First World Tour Arrives at 713 Music Hall

On Wednesday, August 28th, Nigerian sensation Tems brought her first world tour to 713 Music Hall on the Born in the Wild Tour with opener, Naomi Sharon.

The show opened with Drake-protégé, Naomi Sharon, who set the cozy, intimate mood for the night. The artist’s sultry energy filled the room as her smooth vocals and soft, downtempo sounds soothed the crowd. Naomi is a Dutch singer-songwriter and became the first female signee to Drake’s record label, OVO Sound last year before releasing her debut album, Obsidian, the following October. The singer performed tracks off her album including “Push” and “Another Life” as well as her latest single “Nothing Sweeter.”

TEMS

Temilande Openiyl has been making music under the stage name Tems since 2018, collaborating with top-chart artists such as Drake, Future, Justin BieberBeyoncé and Rihanna. The singer was also featured on Wizkid’s track “Essence,” earning multiple awards, a Grammy nomination and ultimately exposing her to a larger audience. The artist announced a worldwide tour just one month before the release of her latest album Born In The Wild. Coog Radio first experienced Tems just last year at the Honeyland Festival in Sugarland.

Tems came on stage wearing a black and gold one piece with gold tassels across her outfit, She went through crowd favorites “Turn Me Up,” “Found” and “Ice T.” hyping up the crowd before she went through more of the album. The singer danced around the stage as the audience sang along to her top hits from the album including “Wait For U” and “Me & U.”

Although the artist did a lot of dancing, Tems voice was as strong as more experienced singers. During the show, the singer went into the crowd to speak face to face wiwth audience members. The artist handed the mic to a fan named Carl who spoke of how proud he was of her. Tems then serenading him, incorporating his name into the song. The artist continued serenading two more fans before returning to the stage.

As the night came to a close, the singer played two of her most popular hits “Found” and “Higher,” which got the audience singing at the top of their lungs. Based on the her track record and the crowd’s reaction Wednesday night, Tems is at the beginning of a fruitful career. It’s going to be interesting what she puts out next.
