Glixen Brings the Gentle Pleasures Tour to Houston

Written by on April 3, 2025

On March 26, 2025, Glixen came to Houston on their first headlining tour: The Quiet Pleasures Tour. They were joined by the bands Suzy Clue and She’s Green upstairs at White Oak Music Hall. At this show, I was joined by my friend Patti, who took many of these photos, which will be credited below. More of her work can be found at www.patriciasauerart.com!

The first band that came out was She’s Green from Minneapolis. They set the tone for the night with their beautiful melodies and ambience. Their music filled the room with its dreamy sound, which felt as if it put the audience into a trance.

I especially enjoyed singer Zofia Smith’s way of commanding the stage, not through large movements but instead in the way she swayed and floated around the stage, perfectly embodying her band’s sound. I also appreciated the way none of the instruments overshadowed each other, creating a beautiful balance, which allowed Teddy Nordvold’s basslines to really come through.

After She’s Green’s set, Suzy Clue took the stage and transformed the energy of the crowd with pounding drums and heavy guitar riffs. It was clear she was born to perform. With a playful, contagious spirit, she effortlessly blended soft melodies with raw, powerful vocals. Her energy was infectious, drawing the entire crowd into the experience. Additionally, the way the band members’ energy fed off one another was enjoyable.

One highlight of the entire night was the cover they did of “Spit” by Kittie at the end of their set, which opened the mosh pit. It was a fun surprise, and it definitely got everyone moving. I left this show a big fan, and I’m anxious for them to release more recorded music on streaming platforms!

After Suzy Clue wrapped up her set, Glixen took the stage. They started their set with “All Tied Up,” a song from their most recent EP. This song has quickly become a favorite among me and other fans, especially because of the way it highlights singer Aislinn Ritchie’s vocals. The song itself is very romantic in a tragic way, describing a desire for a relationship that is all-consuming.

They followed this song up with a mix of recent singles like “lick the star,” as well as some older favorites like “Sugarcube.” The set was so dreamy and had a good flow that felt both effortless and intentional. Each song kept the crowd swaying, lost in the warm haze of reverb-soaked guitars and ethereal vocals.

Overall, each band had an amazing set that showed the range that shoegaze and alternative rock can have as genres. Some leaned into the dreamy, introspective side of shoegaze, and others embraced a grittier sound, filled with exciting guitar licks and drum patterns. The result was a beautifully balanced mix of nostalgic yet fresh sounds.
